december's cats (and dog)

JEM (RIP)
Jem was the most wonderful creature on earth. She made my life liveable and complete. She vanished into thin air on Sunday, September 28th, 2003 at the age of 10 years. It was the worst day of my life. Miss you Jemmie.

MOTO (RIP)
Moto was my Siamese Dream. She was a very special cat, chubby and beautiful. On August 2, 2005 two dogs came in my yard and killed her. We love and miss you Mootsie.

YAHTZEE (RIP)
Yahtzee was a rabbit who thought she was a cat. Who could blame her since cats were the only creatures she ever fraternized with. She was a good bunny, then died of a parasite disease in September 2005.

JETT
Jett is the king of my household. He sleeps in a bed on my dresser at night. Some mornings he gets up at the crack of dawn and wants to go outside. Other days he decides to sleep in until the afternoon. He has a very hectic schedule. Jett is a stealth warrior and once defended me from a large dog who was "coming to kill me". Really it just wanted to say hi but Jett didn't know.

TUTU
TuTu came to my house as a foster cat with a broken leg. The doctors had put a nice long metal pin in her hip to hold it together and she was to remain calm for six weeks. That lasted about six minutes. TuTu is crazy and even though I could not keep her down, she healed beautifully and she never left. She has recently become incontinent and lives in diapers 24-7.

GAMBLER
Gambler was completely feral when I rescued her from a wild colony on Maine Island in January 2004. She had never encountered humans and was petrified. It took some doing, but she's extremely loving and sweet now. Gambler is never rude or nasty to the foster kittens that come and go. Nothing makes her happier than when I pull a nice, fresh, brand new mousie from the package and give it to her.

XR
XR also came into the house as a skittish little foster kitten. She's a stealth bug killer and keeps my house free from anything that crawls, scuttles or flies. She loves to have her butt rubbed.

YAGO
Yago is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever seen, and the largest in my herd. The thing about Yago is he's even more beautiful inside than he is on the outside. He was rescued from a crack house when he was a couple days old and I bottle fed him so he really loves me. He's a talky-talky cat, yapping constantly about every little thing that pops into his head. He worries about me and loves nothing more than lap time when I'm on the can.

YUBU
Yubu is one of my special needs cats, and although he is fully grown, he still acts like a kitten. I think he will always be this way. He was also bottle fed from about two days old. He has no peripheral vision and is slightly...off... due to his near death experiences as a tiny baby, but he's sharp as a razor and highly obsessive. I think he's autistic and has O.C.D. I cannot imagine life without my little dog in a cat suit.

ZUMI
Zumi is another member of my "special needs" sector. She used to wobble so much she could barely stand up and that has now faded to just a gentle constant quiver. She has seizures and falls out of bed, and since she refuses to sleep anywhere but on the tall dresser, I have to make sure she has a bed with walls. She's moody but wonderful. Zumi is a midget.

LONDON
Oops! That's not a cat! The cats were looking bored so I thought I'd spice up their lives and I got them a puppy! Now London's all grown up and she's the best dog a girl could have. She got certified as a St John Ambulance Therapy Dog and now makes weekly visits to the hospital to cheer people up. She's an amazing creature and I don't know what I would do without her.

PESO
Peso was rescued off the streets of Mexico and brought up to Canada by some lovely folk. I was the lucky person who got to adopt her and what a blessing it has been! She's a doll! The cats love her, and she is London's best friend in the whole entire Universe. She has lived the hard life, so she knows how good she has it now and always shows her gratitude.

OLD MAN HENRY
Henry showed up on my friend's doorstep. Looked like he'd been out all through the cold winter. He was a skeleton with skin. Turns out he's super old, completely deaf, hyper thyroid, and has to have all his teeth pulled out because they are so rotten. He's a DOLL and follows me around the house endlessly. He is happiest when gazing lovingly into my eyes.
